Regensburg, Germany
July 15-18, 2007

I had to be in Florence for work during this week, so Heather and the girls met Chrissi Richards and her girls (and her mom) in Regensburg, where they rented an apartment on a farm outside of the city. They spent the week milking cows, playing in haystacks, playing with farm animals, and rode a horse. They also spent a little time in Regensburg itself, a beautiful German town, which we visited last Christmas. Admittedly, I don't feel like I could have handled that much time on a farm, so it was good that we planned this excursion appropriately with me absent! But the girls had a great time and have spent more time with Rosie, Vanessa, and Caroline over the last few months than we ever could have imagined!

More Summer Fun

\It's been a very quick Summer so far. Heather has taken the kids to the zoo and we went to

the Waterpark just outside of Budapest a couple of weeks ago. This Summer is going to be over before we know it. We leave next week for our vacation in Switzerland, France, and Disney and once we are back it is almost time for school to start again!

Richards' Family Visit

July 4-7, 2007

Joe and Chrissi Richards took a two week vacation starting from where they are living in Germany, through Croatia, Albania, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Serbia (and probably some more countries that I may have missed!), ending up in Budapest for the last few days of their vacation. Rosie, Vanessa, and Caroline played with Katie and Ashley for 3 days straight and had a GREAT time!

4th of July, 2007

We celebrated the 4th of July mostly like any other day, except for the girls' choice of clothes for the day and a barbecue in the evening of hamburgers and hot dogs. Joe and Chrissi Richards and their children arrived just in time to join us.

Quotes to Remember

We were in Munich and just checking into our Hotel and both the girls needed to go to the bathroom. We all ran upstairs to our rooms and they both bolted into the bathroom. They began to fight over which one was going to use the toilet first. They argue for a few seconds when Katie shouts, "Mom, which one of us do you want to pee their pants?!" (May, 2009)
We were driving home from church last week and I said something like, "We are going to buy a Toyota Sequoia". Suddenly from the back we hear our 4 year old, Ashley, pipe up ... "You killed my Father...Prepare to Die!"...somehow she confused "Toyota Sequoia" with "Inigo Montoya" from the Princess Bride! (May, 2009)
Ashley and I were playing a card game when she says to me, "pause the game, I have to go to the bathroom". This is when I realized the technology gap between my childhood and hers.
I asked Ashley what country she was born in (she was born in Canada). She told me that she couldn't remember, so I tried to give her a hint. I said, "you were born in Cannnn...". To which she immediately exclaimed in triumph..."CANDYLAND!!"
Katie woke us up this morning telling us we needed to get up. Heather told her that her head hurt and she wasn't going to get up yet. Katie responds, "But you don't WALK on your head, so get up!"
