Katie's Volcano ... Jan. 25, 2009

Katie is taking a "Science" after school activity. She created a volcano last week and brought home the "recipe" to duplicate it for us.

Ryan dress up ... Jan. 24, 2009

This is the first time (and probably not the last) that the girls decided to dress Ryan up in one of their dress-ups. As you can tell, he wasn't real happy about it!

Ryan ... Jan 9, 2009

At 7 1/2 months Ryan weighed 23 lbs. Heather had to take him out of his baby carseat and is trying to put him in all the clothes that he is outgrowing. In contrast, Katie didn't weigh 23 lbs until she was over a year old.

Easy Bake Oven ... Jan. 6, 2009

Katie went back to school a few days before Ashley, so Heather spent those days entertaining Ashley, including baking a pretty nasty cake in this oven. Not sure what more we were expecting considering it is cooked with a light bulb!

Ryan growing up ... Jan '09

At the end of December Ryan started to sit up pretty well, which began the stage that Heather thinks is the most fun. And he had his first trip in a grocery cart (which he LOVED!) and his first bath in the big tub.

New Year's Eve ... Dec. 31, 2008

We spent New Year's Eve at the Duplisea's house. We counted down for the kids around 9:30, visited for a little while longer and were on our way home by 10:00! This is tradition, though, so I don't feel bad. I was asleep by midnight, Heather waited until it was official.

3 teeth in 6 days ... Dec. 28, 2008

Ryan got his two front teeth for Christmas. He started teething when he was 3 months old but it took another 4 months for his bottom teeth to come in. The first one came through the first night we got to Rome (which wasn't pleasant) and the second one came Christmas morning. Then the day after Christmas the first top one came through. A lot of teething and really the first real experiences of sleepless nights with Ryan!

Boxing Day Pajamas ... Dec. 26, 2008

Julia and William sent us these pajamas for Christmas. Since we didn't open them until Christmas, we decided to wear them for Boxing Day (whatever that is).

Quotes to Remember

We were in Munich and just checking into our Hotel and both the girls needed to go to the bathroom. We all ran upstairs to our rooms and they both bolted into the bathroom. They began to fight over which one was going to use the toilet first. They argue for a few seconds when Katie shouts, "Mom, which one of us do you want to pee their pants?!" (May, 2009)
We were driving home from church last week and I said something like, "We are going to buy a Toyota Sequoia". Suddenly from the back we hear our 4 year old, Ashley, pipe up ... "You killed my Father...Prepare to Die!"...somehow she confused "Toyota Sequoia" with "Inigo Montoya" from the Princess Bride! (May, 2009)
Ashley and I were playing a card game when she says to me, "pause the game, I have to go to the bathroom". This is when I realized the technology gap between my childhood and hers.
I asked Ashley what country she was born in (she was born in Canada). She told me that she couldn't remember, so I tried to give her a hint. I said, "you were born in Cannnn...". To which she immediately exclaimed in triumph..."CANDYLAND!!"
Katie woke us up this morning telling us we needed to get up. Heather told her that her head hurt and she wasn't going to get up yet. Katie responds, "But you don't WALK on your head, so get up!"
