Thunder Over Louisville ... April 17, 2010
Kevin and Kim Button and their kids came down from Chicago and stayed with us for a night. We spent Saturday at Thunder over Louisville, one of the largest fire works spectaculars in the world as part of the lead up to the Kentucky Derby in a couple of weeks. It was tough to find a spot, but we enjoyed the air show, playing some ball games, and then ultimately watching the fireworks. It was a long day (we got there around noon/1:00 and the fireworks finished around 10:30PM), so the kids were dead tired by the end of it. Actually, it seems just as the fireworks were about to start, the kids fell asleep. We had to wake them up to ensure they saw it, as I wasn't going to have waited all day for them to miss it. It was crazy trying to get back to the car afterward with two sleeping children plus Katie sleep walking, basically. But we made it and had an enjoyable day.

Katie's Mile Run ... April 13, 2010
I ran with Katie on her mile run at school. She ran the mile at the beginning of the year and at the end of the year. She didn't really want to finish but I was able to convince her to keep running for a $2 reward and she ended up beating her original time.
Ashley and Ryan cheered us on from the sideline.

Louisville Slugger Bat Museum ... April 9, 2010
My cousin Matt, his wife, Heather, and their kids came and visited us for a couple of days. We had a great time together. One of the activities we did was to take the 10 kids (our three, plus Matt and Heather's seven) to the Louisville Slugger Bat Museum. This is the factory where a large number of baseball bats are made for major league players among others. We took a tour and saw how the bats are made and then ultimately had 14 mini bats around the house. We also got the chance to pose with bats used by Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle.

Deanna Roe Farmstead ... April 6, 2010
We visited a local children's farm, which was FANTASTIC. Besides having the normal petting zoo, it also had a lake you could fish in (we didn't catch anything), numerous playground equipment, and the kids had the opportunity to bottle feed the goats. We met Lindsay and her family there and Heather had a good time spending a few minutes catching up.

Kansas City Fairy Tale City ... April 5, 2010
We spent a few day visiting Heather's sister Dawn and her family. They were great hosts and we had a great time with them. I did feel bad that I beat Hayden over and over again in Call of Duty, but hopefully the tips that I gave him will help him improve his skills when playing with/against his friends. He was truly humbled by my skills and apologized profusely for his initial insolence. I forgive him.
One of the places that we visited while in KC was In downtown Kansas City, at the old train station (I think) that has been turned into a mall. They had set up a little fairy tale town. They had scenes from Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Hansel and Gretal, among others. The kids had a great time playing around this little fairy tale kingdom.
