Katie's Birthday Brownies in 6J
August 27, 2012

Katie's summer birthday is sometimes a disadvantage.  She doesn't ever get to celebrate with her friends at school, but.... her birthday often gets celebrated more often.  I took brownies to her class to celebrate her 10th birthday a month earlier!.

Cebu Trip... Cebu, Philippines August 2012

Cebu, Philippines
August 2012

2 days after we got home from our summer in the US, we headed back out for a week long trip to Cebu.  We stayed at the beautiful Shangri La Resort and a wonderfully relaxing week.  Our summer was fabulous, but incredibly busy and exhausting, especially for Aaron.  In order for us to minimize our time apart Aaron was able to work in either CA or PA during the week, and come back to spend time with us on the weekends.  And he also had to fly back to China for a couple of weeks, but came back again at the end of the summer to fly home with us.  Needless to say, it was a very tiring summer for him.  So it was especially nice to have a week on the beach with NOTHING to do and no one to see.  Just our little family time.  The resort was beautiful and had a great little kids water zone and a fun slide for the bigger kids.  The kids played and swam their little hearts out, and we spent some fun times at the beach too.  There were tons of sand toys and we were able to use all the non-motorized water toys for free.  So we snorkled, played in the water hamster ball, and Aaron, Katie and Ashley tried paddle boarding, which they enjoyed but it got windy and the girls needed to be rescued!  We were sad when the weekend was over, but we got back to Shanghai refreshed and ready for another school year.

Sophie got into my mascara and used it as lipstick!
