Ashley got the part of Mrs. Fuzziwig in Dulwich's Year 3/4 Production. She was fabulous! Ashley loves to be on stage and perform, and she has a beautiful and strong voice well suited for the stage. We loved watching her and were really proud of her!

We were so excited to have Ashley get baptized in Shanghai, but we had no idea where we were going to do it. Our church building is some rented office space, so we don't have a font. We used to have a family in our branch that had an indoor pool in their house, but they moved. We had no idea where we were going to baptize Ash. Our bathroom was not an option for me because I didn't want to watch Ashley get baptized while sitting on the toilet seat. We tried a blow up kids' pool, and I wasn't thrilled with that option either. Kristen and I kept brainstorming, when suddenly it occurred to her.... she had a bamboo tub in her house! She popped it out of her son's tub, put it in the back of her tuk tuk, and drove it along the canal road to my house! It was beautiful!!! I was so excited we would have a beautiful place to baptize Ash! And all because of Kristen! She truly is one of the most amazing friends I have ever had. She walks to the end of the earth and back to help anyone.

Katie and Ashley have been going and playing Irish Football with our backyard Irish neighbors, Aiofe and Ciara. Their Dad is the coach and they have been having so much fun going and learning this new sport with their friends. Aaron and I went and watched on the day of the tournament. Katie was on the same teach as Aiofe and Liam Clarke and they won! Fun day!

We used to have a hard and fast rule that we would NEVER decorate for Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving. This year is going to be different. We have Ashley's baptism this year, and there is so much going on before then that I had to get an early start. Plus, we are leaving for a trip to Cambodia in the middle of December and don't get back until Christmas Eve, so we wanted to enjoy our house all decked out for the holidays as long as we can.

Every year my kids pick out a fair amount of their Halloween candy to keep, and then write a letter to the Halloween Fairy, who takes the rest of their candy and leaves them a present.

Quotes to Remember

We were in Munich and just checking into our Hotel and both the girls needed to go to the bathroom. We all ran upstairs to our rooms and they both bolted into the bathroom. They began to fight over which one was going to use the toilet first. They argue for a few seconds when Katie shouts, "Mom, which one of us do you want to pee their pants?!" (May, 2009)
We were driving home from church last week and I said something like, "We are going to buy a Toyota Sequoia". Suddenly from the back we hear our 4 year old, Ashley, pipe up ... "You killed my Father...Prepare to Die!"...somehow she confused "Toyota Sequoia" with "Inigo Montoya" from the Princess Bride! (May, 2009)
Ashley and I were playing a card game when she says to me, "pause the game, I have to go to the bathroom". This is when I realized the technology gap between my childhood and hers.
I asked Ashley what country she was born in (she was born in Canada). She told me that she couldn't remember, so I tried to give her a hint. I said, "you were born in Cannnn...". To which she immediately exclaimed in triumph..."CANDYLAND!!"
Katie woke us up this morning telling us we needed to get up. Heather told her that her head hurt and she wasn't going to get up yet. Katie responds, "But you don't WALK on your head, so get up!"
