Vienna/Graz, Austria ... June 3 - 5, 2006

A couple of days after we moved to Budapest, we drove a mere 90 minutes to Vienna to spend one night. This was Katie and Ashley’s first time there and they loved to ride the street cars and see the beautiful gardens. We walked up and down Stephansplatz and Vienna's inner-city for a long time, and enjoyed everything that was happening, and the window shopping. The girls loved Stephansdom (the big cathedral) and thought it was a castle. Zanoni’s is close by, so we got our favorite gelato before going back to the hotel. I took the girls for a swim and we went to bed early, so we could wake up early and make it back to Budapest for Stake Conference Sunday morning. We wouldn’t normally have tried so hard to make it back, but this was Hungary’s first stake conference… Elder Bruce C. Hafen was in town to create the first stake in Hungary, and we really wanted to be present for such a monumental event. We literally attended stake conference, then got back in our car and headed back to Austria, but this time we went further south, to Graz. It was only about 4 hours from Budapest, and it is a very scenic drive. We would be driving along the highway and see random castles off in the mountains. Since it was a Sunday, everything was closed, but we still really enjoyed walking around the town center, which was very quaint. We spent the night in the Courtyard Marriott and drove home on Monday, which was a holiday so I had off. We moved into Hotel Corinthia Royal when we got back, where we would spent the next two months while we waited to move into our house.
