Since the weather got bearable in Shanghai, we have tried to spend part of any free time seeing something new in Shanghai. This was Autumn Festival week (sometimes called Moon Cake Festival), and since we didn't know about it (next year we will have to plan something) and I had obligations at work anyway, we stayed in Shanghai. We did find time to get out for a bit and we visited the Jing'an Temple. The temple was rebuilt once during the Qing Dynasty, the last of the Chinese dynasties. Admittedly, I don't know the exact date, and the dynasty lasted 275 years, so it could have been rebuilt anywhere between 1650 and 1912. There is a tall copper bell and bell tower in the middle of the courtyard where one can try to throw coins into. If you can make it and keep the coin in the bell, it brings good luck. I have a lot of good luck. My wife and kids not so much.
