Debrecen, Hungary ... November 30, 2009

We woke up and got ready to go to church. They have a small branch in Debrecen, just down the street from our hotel, so it was very convenient. We had run into Elder Taylor the night before who told us exactly where the church was, which made it very easy. It was nice to see Elder Taylor. We have run into him a few times around Hungary in different places. He was a greenie in the Miscolc branch when we first met him 1 1/2 years ago. We were visiting there with Mark Voorhies, who served there back in the early 90's, and met Elder Taylor for the first time then. He then actually served in our branch for a few months and now we, coincidentally, ran into him on the street in Debrecen and then obviously saw him at Sacrament Meeting Sunday morning. The crazy thing is that he goes home in February, yet it seems like yesterday that we met him for the first time in his first area. We have outlived six months worth of missionaries at this point.
After church we strolled back through the central plaza and ran into a medievel festival with people dressed up as knights and archers. They were shooting off their catapult when we stumbled across them. I love this about European cities. Never a dull moment! Katie was very disappointed that we arrived too late to see the archers taking target practice. We walked around for a bit longer before returning to the car, packing up, and heading back towards Budapest. We were leaving early enough to stop by another Hungarian city on our way back, Eger.
