It just so happens that one of my best friends from Louisville, Jen Mortenson, has a sister that live in Hawaii by the temple and the PCC. I had met Danielle a couple of times when she was visiting Jen in Louisville, so when we were planning our trip to Hawaii I emailed her and she was a big help. She invited us to stay at their house when we were up on the North Shore, and offered to watch our kids for us when we went to the temple. It was so nice to get up early on Saturday and morning and go to the temple with Aaron. We usually have to trade off. We went back to Danielle's house and picked up the kids and took them to see the temple and the visitors center. It is such a gorgeous temple with a beautiful view to the ocean. The church owns all the land out to the sea, so no one can ever build in front of the view!
After going to the temple and a quick walk on the campus of BYU Hawaii, we met the Waters and went to the beach with them. They took us to theirs friends' beach. The performer from Samoa, Kap, has a house on the beach, and we went there for a few hours. Danielle's husband, Ryan, took Aaron spear fishing for Aaron's first time. He even caught something, which unfortunately turned out to be a fish that was supposed to be prohibited from being caught.... whoops! The kids had a fantastic time playing at the beach. And after a quick stop at a shrimp shack (which really was the icing on the cake of a perfect day.... temple, beach, shrimp) we started to make our way back down to Waikiki.
